Howard Stern gets Saturday show on CBS

Shock-jock Howard Stern, the self- proclaimed "King of All Media," has announced he will host a new Saturday night television program that will compete with "Saturday Night Live." "The Howard Stern Show," featuring the cast of the shock-jock's number one-rated radio show, is scheduled to air on CBS-owned television stations starting late this summer. Stern said: "Saturday night will never be the same. I've got to tell you, already I'm embarrassed by the show, it hasn't even hit the air." He said his new show would dominate Saturday Night Live, which he called safe, stiff and stodgy. Stern, noted for his outrageous and sometimes offensive humor, said, "You know you have to fall within certain standards (on television), but the guidelines I follow on the radio are the guidelines I'll follow at 11:30 at night 11:30 is a pretty loose time." During the announcement, Stern gave a sample of his antics by saying he'd had sex with David Letterman and flirting with a CBS reporter. CBS owned television stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis, Miami, Denver, Pittsburgh and Baltimore have been the first to clear the way for "The Howard Stern Show."
